This is brochure “Wintersport in Italien” was part of ENIT’s 1935 campaign for promoting skiing in the entire north of Italy. The brochure is signed “F. Romuli. Of this artist I can find no information so far. The combination of movement, cialis canada search sharp edges, pharmacy typography and color makes for a beautiful example of the modern style.
The brochure also has the stamp of the travel agency (always one of my favorite features) where it was distributed: “Reisbureau Stenmayer GmbH Wiesdaden.” It was printed by Barabino & Graeve – Genoa.
This second booklet is titled “Dolomiti dove passa la SAD” (“The SAD Passes Through the Dolomites”). This booklet was published by the SAD – Società Automobilistica Dolomiti, a regional bus company, in 1929. It was designed by Franz Lenhart and printed by the Soc. Edit. Dolomiti – Cortina.
This image is among his early work before Lenhart’s real breakout work started for the ENIT. According to the South Tyrol Museum of Tourism (where many of the places Lenhart featured were located):
Franz J. Lenhart (1898-1992) originated from Kufstein, studied in Vienna and Florence and in 1922 settled in Meran as a young graphic designer. Just two years later he achieved a breakthrough with his poster for Enit, the Italian national tourism agency: his “Visitate le Dolomiti” soon appeared all over Italy.
By 1930 at the latest Lenhart had discovered his own style: in the background mountains were usually visible, while in the foreground appeared dynamic skiers or elegant women radiating strongly erotic tones. Lenhart’s posters showed South Tyrol not as the land of Andreas Hofer, but as a sophisticated leisure paradise. Lenhart originals soon became sought-after rarities.
There are a number of other Lenhart pieces on my online gallery here.
